Benefits For Northeast US Residents

Installing solar panels and systems saves money on energy bills, but it can also add significant value to your home. Homeowners can qualify for federal tax credits, while each state runs its own renewable energy programs for homeowners and businesses.

New York - Residents of the Empire State have adopted solar energy to great success. With access to a wide variety of incentives when they utilize solar energy in their homes or businesses, there’s never been a better time to install a solar energy system. New York City alone has a vast array of solar energy incentives such as New York City Property Tax Abatement, which provides up to 20% of solar equipment cost. Across the state, residents can take advantage of the New York State Solar Energy System Equipment Credit, which offers up to $5000 in credits for newly installed solar energy systems.

New Jersey - Residents in New Jersey can participate in two programs that significantly increase the return on investment of solar equipment - New Jersey Net Metering and the Transition Renewable Energy Certificates (TREC). New Jersey net metering enables homeowners to get reimbursed for any excess energy your solar systems create. At the same time, the Transition Renewable Energy Certificates (TREC) provide certificates for every megawatt-hour a system generates. These certificates can then be sold to utilities for up to $92 per certificate. The state also runs solar sales tax exemptions and property tax exemptions, meaning installing solar systems are an attractive investment option.

Massachusetts - The state government has introduced many programs to encourage homeowners and businesses to adopt solar energy. Net metering provides credits for any excess energy created, while the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) program pays customers a fixed rate for every unit of electricity their solar equipment generates. Owners of solar equipment are also eligible for generous tax credits such as the Residential Renewable Energy Income, with credits of up to $1000.

The team at SunEarth can help you find the best programs for you, as well as offering hassle-free financing so you can start saving money on your energy bills.

The Affordable Heat Act, Vermont

The Affordable Heat Act will help Vermonters reduce their dependence on high-cost, price-volatile, and polluting fossil heating fuels. The Act does this by establishing a Clean Heat Standard that will reduce pollution over time, in line with science-based pollution-reduction requirements of the Global Warming Solutions Act.

The Affordable Heat Act in Vermont provides financial incentives to homeowners who install solar hot water systems. This program aims to reduce the cost of heating homes with renewable energy sources. The Act offers a rebate of up to $3,000 for the installation of a solar hot water system, and it also provides financing options to help homeowners cover the upfront costs. This initiative not only helps homeowners save money on their energy bills, but it also promotes the use of clean energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
