In a bold move towards a cleaner and more energy-efficient future, Hawaiʻi Energy has just announced a significant increase in rebates for residential solar water heating systems. SunEarth is excited to share this valuable news, urging Hawaiʻi residents to seize the opportunity for greener living.

Hawaiʻi Energy's Game-Changing Rebate Boost

Effective immediately and extending until June 24, 2024, Hawaiʻi Energy is offering an enhanced rebate of $1,500 for residents installing new solar water heating systems. This marks a substantial increase of $500, making the switch to solar even more attractive and financially rewarding.

Insights from Caroline Carl, Executive Director at Hawaii Energy

"A solar water heater alone can reduce monthly electricity bills by up to 40%," emphasized Caroline Carl, Executive Director at Hawaiʻi Energy. "To date, Hawai‘i Energy has helped more than 24,000 households afford solar water heating systems and reduce their energy costs for years to come. With Hawai‘i’s electricity rates being the highest in the nation, this is one of the biggest ways to bring down an electric bill, and we highly encourage residents to take advantage of this limited-time offer."

Comprehensive Residential Rebate Program

Hawaiʻi Energy's Residential Rebate Program extends beyond the solar water heating system rebate. Residents can also benefit from a $200 rebate for a solar water heater tune-up, recommended every five years for optimal performance.

Tax Credits for Maximum Savings

Residents may qualify for additional savings through federal and state tax credits. A federal tax credit of 30% and a state tax credit of 35% off the costs of the solar water heating system and installation could be within reach. Hawaiʻi Energy encourages residents to consult their tax professionals for details on how to apply.

Eligibility and How to Claim Your Rebate

Hawaiʻi Energy rebates are available to residential electric utility ratepayers on Hawaiʻi Island, Lāna‘i, Maui, Moloka‘i, and O‘ahu. However, it's important to note that Kaua‘i residents are serviced by a utility cooperative and are not eligible for Hawai‘i Energy rebates.
